At this very moment the Texas Medical Board, the TMB, is trying to take the medical license of Dr. Mary Talley Bowden. Her crime, her ethical infraction, was to speak up in favor of Covid treatments that the authorities don’t want anyone to talk about: Ivermectin and Hydroxychloroquine. That board was until last week headed by someone that was also on the Planned Parenthood payroll but they were removed after a brief and very vocal 5 day campaign to the governor and atty general’s offices via Twitter. Dr Bowden’s nightmare continues to unfold.
The State of TX passed SB 14 two years ago which defined the surgical mutilation of minors under the guise of “affirming care”, as child abuse and ordered all hospitals to cease those activities. One very large medical system publicly claimed to have stopped but continued their efforts behind closed doors. Lot of money in cutting off body parts. Dr. Eithan Haim blew the whistle on that operation and despite Whistleblower Law protections, has been persecuted in the legal system for the last two years. His crime? Informing the State of TX that a hospital system lied to the public about its operations and continues to mutilate children for profit despite TX law to cease those activities. His next court date is Feb 10th in Houston and he’s facing the loss of his medical license and 10 years in prison.
BHEC Can Do Better
I’m not naïve enough to think that everything is sunshine and roses at BHEC but I do think we have the right administrative staff to become a shining example for other TX licensing boards, but it all begins with the boards.
What we can do is make sure that all four of our mental health boards aren’t promoting any aspect of the woke agenda including the DEI initiatives in our professions and our rulebooks. After all that’s what the legislature and governor’s office wants.
I absolutely agree with Mrs Mills and every aspect of her statement. The BHEC administrative staff has done a wonderful job of cleaning up and standardizing the four board rulebooks but the glaringly obvious DEI requirement on Cultural Diversity needs to be eliminated, and now. Put it on your agenda for the next meeting, do whatever is required but get it done.
Let's Get This Done, One Way or Another
I like the direction that the State is taking in cleaning up the Woke mess but we have a lot of work to do. The governor’s office doesn’t like to be bothered with its various agencies board issues. They don’t like it a lot! And with a gubernatorial re-election campaign starting up in about 12 months I’m sure the last thing they want to hear about is a DEI driven requirement in the rulebooks of their mental health licensing boards, the ones with the workforce shortage? But if this issue isn’t resolved quickly, they’re going to hear about it. That’s not a threat, it’s my civic duty to my kids and grand-kids.
