Phillips LPC Board Comments Jan 2025
I’m Phillip Crum, TX citizen and co-creator of AMHP, the Association for Mental Health Professionals.
The Tide is Turning
On Tuesday President Trump signed an Executive Order putting a halt to federal funding for any hospital or institution administering puberty blockers, replacement hormone therapy, or still butchering our children in the name of “affirming care”. That nightmare is coming to an end.
The DEI initiative is being swept from the military and other national institutions as we speak in favor of a merit-based system and the same is happening at our state level, too.
TX passed SB 14 two years ago defining the surgical mutilation of minors under the guise of “affirming care” as child abuse and ordered all hospitals to cease those activities. Dr. Eithan Haim blew the whistle on one of the states’ largest hospital systems because they refused to comply with state law and he’s been illegally persecuted for the last two years through the court system for his efforts. That nightmare ended last Friday when the Trump DOJ filed papers for dismissal and a judge dismissed all charges “with prejudice”.
The legislature also passed SB 16 which required the state-run university system to eliminate it’s DEI offices and initiatives from the hiring process, and there is a bill currently before the legislature to expand that edict to the university curriculums.
Where Does This Framework of National and State Directives Point?
The will of a vast majority of the people both in TX and across the country is very clear. We are sick and tired of the emotion driven, socially constructed Woke ideology. We’re fed up being called racists, bigots, and words ending in “phobic”. We’re tired of being told we “don’t understand what compassion is”, that “we don’t care about clients”, and we “want to people to die” simply because we don’t think surgery for children should be a primary treatment option. And we’re done putting up with childish tantrums when we stick up for our own beliefs.
Our mission for the last two years has been to have the 3 hr Cultural Diversity requirement removed completely. Its premise is that counselors are inherently incompetent and somehow the workforce shortage will be solved if every white counselor learns to deal with black, brown, and gay people and that’s highly insulting. A counselor is free to work where they want to and deal with the populations of their choice.
Summary: Phillips LPC Board Comments Jan 2025
If indeed Robert and his team are about to propose the same language as what was proposed to the MFT board last week then I urge this board to support and pass it. While we would much prefer a total elimination of the rule the proposed changes to the wording effectively negate the original DEI objective. As written, the new wording would now simply require my counselor friends to take 3 hours of classes they were already going to take for their targeted client markets. We’ll just leave it to a future board to look at this rule, question the reason for its existence, and remove it then as redundant and without substance.
The glaringly obvious DEI requirement for Cultural Diversity needs to be eliminated or re-worded, and it needs to happen today. (And it did!)
