Call to Action

Call to Action | Association for Mental Health Professionals

This is your call to action.

Did you know that the American Revolution was fought and won with only less than 3% of the American population participating in a role other than grousing about things in a public tavern? Less than 3%. The remainder were content to let someone else do the heavy lifting and hope things worked out.

It only takes a determined, vocal minority to affect national change. The change that is happening right now will go a whole lot faster, and result in less pain for all, if more than 3% will get involved.

One War-A Thousand Battles

We all know things are not good; they're not "normal" as most of us have known normal for the past 50 years. We're in the midst of a very real, spiritual war manifesting in the physical realm. Big change is happening at the world and national levels and it will be painful for all, more so for some than others. I'll not elaborate on the particular issues we face as that is not my point today. I am convinced beyond all doubt, however, that the outcome will be better than what we're living through right now.

There are a hundred different theatres under attack, in the fields of medicine, education, politics, our monetary system, religion, and a dozen other categories. Each one hosting a hundred different battles. That's the bad news.

Empathic EHR and the Association for Mental Health Professionals

This Is Your Call to Action

No one can fight all the battles and no one is asking you to. That's the good news. We're asking you to identify ONE topic that really commands your attention and do something, anything, to help those who are already leading the way in that battle. That's all. There's enough people that if enough of us did just this much then every theater, every battle, would have thousands of patriots supporting each other and the opposition would crumble.

Whether your theatre of choice is mental health competency, monetary policy, the illegal immigrant issue or something else, it doesn't matter. Pick something. Then do what you're willing to do, what's important to you, whether that's write blog posts and promote them, send templated emails to whomever the battle leaders ask you to, or make a few phone calls. Show up for board meetings and just stand there while others speak. Simple stuff. Just pull your weight and don't expect it all to work out fine, "because it always has". It may not.

I know this may sound a bit harsh to some of you but this isn't about feelings, it's about survival. You're either part of the problem or you're part of the solution. You get to pick.

About Phillip Crum

Phillip's background has blessed him with a variety of interests, skills, and tools to get things done. He spent 25 years in the printing and marketing industry before meeting Kathleen Mills in 2015. They quickly figured out that they made a pretty good business team and, owing to Kathleen's story, embarked upon a mission that would see the creation of PracticeMentors.us and eventually the Association for Mental Health Professionals.
